I am New to Chiropractic Care What kind of training does a Chiropractor go through?
Chiropractic Physicians are licensed and board-certified doctors. As with all other physician specialties, to earn a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree, candidates must first complete a rigorous four-year pre-med undergraduate program. From there, students who choose to specialize in the neuromuscular and skeletal systems attend chiropractic school, while others may pursue medical or dental school depending on their focus. Chiropractic training includes intensive studies in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and manual adjustment techniques. Like other primary care physicians, Chiropractic Physicians can choose to focus on a variety of extensive post-graduate education medical specialties, like orthopedics, neurology, radiology, pediatrics, and more. Our Founder, Dr. Richard R. Shaker, D.C. has taken many post-graduate courses; learn more about him and see his curriculum vitae here.
Is Chiropractic Care safe?
Yes. Chiropractic care is widely considered safe when performed by a licensed and trained Doctor of Chiropractic. It’s a non-invasive, drug-free approach to health that focuses on restoring proper postural, spinal, and foot alignment and locomotor function to the body. Like any healthcare treatment, there can be some mild side effects such as temporary soreness, similar to how you might feel after exercise. However, serious complications are extremely rare. At Shaker Spine & Sport Institute, your safety is our top priority—we customize care based on your needs, health history, and goals to ensure the most effective and comfortable experience possible.
Do I need a referral to see a Chiropractor?

Are Chiropractic treatments covered by insurance?

How often should I see a Chiropractor?
The frequency of visits depends on the patient's condition, health goals, and Chiropractor's recommendations. Once your initial complaint is erradcated, most people benefit from infrequent maintenance visits.
What is the Webster Technique, and how does it help during pregnancy?
